5 & a 1/2 Months without a smoke...(journal log).

by DeanChristopher @ 2008-05-17 - 19:18:40

8|

Five & a half Months...have not even taken a single drag of a cigarette...
I should be Very Happy, right? |-|
Answer...NO! :-/

Now, quitting smoking is the most single, hardest quest/test/challange I have EVER done in my short life...(so far).
Having a smoke was as natural as eating to me for a good 16-17 Years...& I smoked for 21 years out of 36!
Habit...fuck yeah!

The Summers sorta here, relaxed chores out the Garden are getting rather difficult at the mo because my Brain is connecting with smoking habits attached to the things I do in the summer! It brings on the cravings for a smoke like when I first quit back in Jan this year!
Now, with certain stressful situations from time to time I get an overwhelming fucking urge to have a smoke >:XX
I even walked into a shop on Fri- to buy a pack of cigs...determined I was >:XX
I didn't...just bought some chewies instead!

Just letting off steam...heres to being smoke free!

this is England...

by DeanChristopher @ 2008-05-11 - 09:03:40

watched this film this weekend for the 1st time...

A story about a troubled boy growing up in England, set in 1983. He comes across a few skinheads on his way home from school, after a fight. They become his new best friends even like family. Based on experiences of director Shane Meadows.

My Verdict:

A superb account of a certain culture, and how it was abused by the right W.@ that time.
9/10.

Taylor Lous (my daughter) has always been VERY creative at writing...

Since she was able to pick up a pen...she has ALWAYS impressed me & her Mum!
Through Junior School she has ALWAYS had her poems/stories featured in special assemblys, festivals etc.
Her English teacher put her into a writers squad (vale) with the selected from Welsh Schools(South).
She reads & reads & reads(when shes not BUSY in her social circle  ;) ).

Tayz recently wrote a short story titled - Illousions (lucky she dosent spell like me, eh).
Her descriptive writing is ...AWESOME!

She had her writing marked today... 8| Now the best ability is marked at level six for her age, Tayz was marked with a SEVEN! Apparently, this don't happen very often!

VERY WELL DONE BABE ;)
Love, mum-dad!

Oh my gosh!!!...

Paper Work, Pricing, Arseeeee Builders on the dog & bone!! KEEP SMILING PEOPLE...

Proof, they say, that there is still enough money out there and that no price is too high.

by DeanChristopher @ 2008-05-05 - 17:27:41

(source-N.Y Times-05/05/2008)

YOU can’t help but wonder just how many of the smartly dressed people sitting night after night at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips de Pury over the next two weeks will be serious bidders and how many will be voyeurs hoping to witness an implosion of the multibillion dollar art market.
04voge-600
For years collectors and the news media have been speculating about when prices would finally top out. Spring sales estimates don’t suggest pessimism. The auction houses clearly hope that things will play out as they did three months ago in London, when, despite global economic queasiness, a Francis Bacon triptych sold for $51.6 million. Now two Bacon triptychs, whose owners no doubt want to capitalize on that high, are going on the block, at estimates of $25 million to $35 million (Christie’s, shown above) and a whopping $70 million (Sotheby’s).

Yet the creative business maneuvers adopted by the auction houses to land big consignments and encourage buyers speak of desperation. Sotheby’s and Christie’s are at the point where they are often willing to forgo profits just to win commissions and beat out the other on sales totals. In addition to the guarantees granted to sellers, which in some cases this season are said to be even higher than the works’ sales estimates, the two companies are buying works of art outright, advancing sellers money ahead of the sales and in rare cases even becoming involved in sellers’ real estate transactions.

These confidential deals are so abundant that it is difficult to judge whether a strong evening sales result is a smoke screen. But if profits dry up, such face-saving strategies can’t last forever.

For now auction houses are playing up the suspense. “We really won’t know till the night,” said Tobias Meyer, director of Sotheby’s contemporary art department worldwide. “Even in this market collectors are tortured by the idea that they could miss an opportunity.”
